Surrounded by Love
I was blessed to witness a beautiful display of love at a recent Grief Share meeting. One of the attendees is an elderly woman who since the last series has started using a walker. She is a joy to be around and has the cutest smile and giggle. There were several women in attendance and at the end of the meeting they swarmed around this sweet little lady to make sure she was taken care of before going out in the bitter cold. One helped her up off the couch, another assisted her with her coat making sure every snap was securely fastened. Still another gently helped her with her…

Lead Me
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. – Psalm 32:8 Yesterday we talked about the different places that the Lord lead the Israelites, each with a purpose of teaching them about the redemption He had provided for them, and us, before the creation of the world. His desire was that they would trust Him completely regardless of where He took them or what He asked them to do. 1 Corinthians 10:6 tell us that these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. Over and over…

Thirsting for God
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. – Psalm 63:1 I was studying in the Old Testament this week and read about the multiple times that the Israelites were thirsty. The first time the Lord had led them from the Red Sea into the desert to a place called Marah where they found undrinkable, bitter water. They grumbled to Moses who cried out to the Lord and the Lord showed him a piece of wood that when thrown into the water would make it become fit to drink. (Exodus…

Real Hunger
For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.” Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. – John 6:33-35 When the Lord provided manna for the children of Israel, His intention was to teach them about daily dependence on Him. This daily reliance on Yahweh to provide bread from heaven, reminded them and us that there is something even better we can rely on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week….Jesus. Hunger means that we are in…

Remember the Awe
The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey. – Exodus 16:31 Can you imagine what it must have been like for the Israelites to wake up that first morning and see the provision of the Lord displayed all around them? The bible tells us that it was like coriander seeds and tasted like wafers made with honey. I imagine that they slowly picked it up, examined it and cautiously lifted it to their lips and tasted it. Then their eyes lit up, smiles crossed their faces and they wanted more. After eating their portion for the day…

Manna -Bread from Heaven
Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. – Exodus 16:4 As I’m writing today, there are large snowflakes slowly falling outside my window. It’s a very creative way for God to give me a visual while teaching me about His generous provision and my strong will. In the Old Testament we are told about the provision of God through Manna. It was bread from heaven that He rained down on the Israelites while they were in the…

Your Calling and Purpose
God is the one who saved and called us with a holy calling. This wasn’t based on what we have done, but it was based on his own purpose and grace that he gave us in Christ Jesus before time began. – 2 Timothy 1:9 Have you ever wondered what your calling and purpose are? Why did God make you the way He did and place you in the exact location where you are? Several years ago I wondered the same thing and was directed by a godly mentor to ask God in prayer and persistently search His Word for the answer. One day that answer came in a way…

It’s Freezing Cold
I have recently come to know a young woman who has an incredible story and heart for God. She is passionate about the work she does and when she prays and speaks you know without a doubt that Jesus is her constant companion. Her heart for the homeless and un-sheltered has lead to street ministries, community meetings and working towards solutions for the immediate needs due to the the frigid temperatures. Our conversations have made me more aware of the dire needs of the people she is called to minister too. One day while quickly walking between my home and the shop I thought to myself, “It’s freezing cold out…

Jesus Christ is Lord of All
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” – Matthew 16:15 At some point in our lives we have all faced discouragement and might have even questioned where God is in the midst of our suffering. Those moments place us at a crossroads of belief. Will we resign ourselves to thinking that our problems are bigger than our God or that circumstances will never change and we might as well just accept things as they are? Or do we take our stand and declare that Jesus Christ is Lord of All? In my studies this week I came across Hebrews 10:26-31 and was stunned by what it revealed.…

The Truth will set you free
So then, surrender to God. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he will flee in agony. Move your heart closer and closer to God, and he will come even closer to you. But make sure you cleanse your life, you sinners, and keep your heart pure and stop doubting. – James 4:7-8 TPT In the movie God’s not dead there is a scene where a woman reveals to her son that he is in a prison cell. He has believed the lies of the enemy and feels comfortable there. The door is wide open and he has the choice to leave or stay. His freedom or confinement…
