Live Boldly

The Beatitudes

Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn,

    for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,

for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

    for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful,

for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,

    for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:3-10

The Sermon on the Mount is the longest recorded sermon given by Jesus to His followers.  He wanted to prepare them, and us, to live a radically different life than what we see in the world.  As true disciples we will experience every beatitude at some point in our lives, which means we will also be blessed as promised.

The word “blessed” really means happy.  Happy are those who realize their need for the redemption offered to us through Jesus Christ, who accept His free gift of grace and choose to have a personal relationship with Him while living a purpose filled life that honors Him.

Are you blessed?  Are you happy?  True blessedness comes from a right relationship with God.
