Seeking the Calm
On Tuesday evenings I attend a prayer group at church. It has become a part of my week that I look forward to with excitement and anticipation.
One of the women that attends is named Gwen. I met her the first day that went to The Rock Church and have since found her to be a beautiful gift and mentor from God.
As God would have it, on Tuesday it was just Gwen and I at the meeting. That gave us time to talk with each other on a personal level and share in a way that we wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.
When she began to pray she said how she had looked forward to this moment of the day with anticipation of drawing into the peace and calmness that you can only find in the presence of the Lord.
She was so right. As we began to pray the hurried pace of the day and all it’s demands began to fade away. Moments of quietness and reflection took their place and the peace that surpasses understanding began to fill the room and our hearts.
My thoughts began to calm down as my heart started to focus on Him. I knew He was there with us because where two or three are gathered in His name, there He is with them.
We were privileged to be spending time with God and to be seeking and praying His will. Now that’s a Divine Encounter!
I thought of that calmness in His presence throughout the rest of the week. With all the hustle and bustle of the Thanksgiving holiday, it was nice to know where my peace can be found and each time that I chose to seek the calm, I found it, in Him.
