My Everything
I was listening to a sermon last week and the pastor shared about how he was planning things for the new year. His calendar was laid out on his desk and he was filling in the dates with birthdays, vacations and planned events that would take place. I could easily relate to the planning mindset and as I began to think about what the New Year might hold and the things that I’m hoping and anticipating for, the thought came to me, “What am I planning on giving to God this year?”
That thought was answered for me when I opened this website and read the home page. “What I have I give to you….my everything.” I was reminded that God doesn’t need things from me. He just wants my heart. As a planner, I set goals at the beginning of the year and think about New Year’s resolutions but how often do those include giving my heart completely and willingly to God? Staying devoted to spending time with Him each day? Being present in the moments, seeing His hand at work in my life and living in expectation of spending time with Him?
The last two years have taught us that you cannot plan for everything. So many unexpected twists and turns have occurred, but the One thing that has remained constant is God.
This year rather than making plans that may or may not happen, I’m going to set my goals higher. I going to make them with the One who will not only direct me on the goals to set, but guide me through the process and be with me until completion.
My goal is to give God my everything. That means to give Him my heart, my devotion, my trust, my worship….my every day life. One day at a time. Living in the moments that He provides and trusting Him for my daily bread. Seeing each day as a gift and believing that He has already provided everything I will need.
I’m going to leave the planning and outcome to God because just as the pastor mentioned, He has already given us His Word to guide us and we just need to move forward doing the things He has already given us to do.
2022 is going to be a blessed year. A year of increased passion for His Word. A year of new adventures with God. A year of developing Godly character and discovering even more about this amazing God we serve. A year of experiencing the love of God more deeply and passionately than ever before.
Thank you Lord for all that You have planned in the year ahead.
