    Love His Word

The next characteristic that Godly Women of Influence have is that they love and meditate on the Word of God. The Word is what we live our lives by. But women of the Word are always committed to the truth. They will not waver no matter what someone else says. They will not compromise God’s Word for anything. Godly Women of Influence know that the Word of God is the ultimate truth and that…

    Godly Women of Influence

Royal Records is written to encourage women to become the Women of Influence that God intends for them to be. Early Morning Rendezvous

It was 1:30am and I was at a hotel near the airport unable to sleep. My mind was whirling with thoughts and sleep was nowhere to be found. As I sat on the floor in the corner with my cell phone as a nightlight, I could hear the soft rumble of snoring from my husband. Meanwhile the Lord began pouring out words for me to share on this blog. I had been struggling with how to finish the January posts and the Lord blessed me with an early morning Divine Encounter with Him as well as the words to share. It was so exciting to hear Him speak and I…

    Live Differently

Women in the Old Testament had little to no choices in life. Their worth was solely based on who they married and the children they gave birth to. The stories of Abigail and Bathsheba are almost mirror images of each other. The bible mentions the beauty of each woman and the contributions they made to David’s reign. Both women had husbands who died. One for being a fool, and the other for being an honorable man. As a result they both became wives of David and they both had children by him. In both cases David wanted the husbands dead, albeit for different reasons. He wanted to kill Nabal for…

    Our Intercessor

Hebrews 7:24-25 But because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood.  Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them. The definition of an intercessor is a person who intervenes on behalf of another, especially by prayer. As we read in the story of Abigail, at great risk to herself, she approaches David, an angry man bent on revenge, and intercedes for her husband despite his bad behavior. It would be easy to point fingers at Nabal and form our own opinions of his actions, but we should first take a look at our own. His story is more like…

    Times of Crisis

Throughout the story of Abigail there were many situations that created a crisis. She was married to a mean and surly man Her household was threatened with death because of her husband’s insulting words. She faced an angry band of warriors She dealt with a drunken and greedy husband She became a widow She remarried and became a second wife among many She was a prisoner of war She was a mother Can you relate to any of these situations? What should be our attitude when a crisis thrusts itself upon us? First we need to remember that God never allows a situation that He will not prepare us for…

    Prisoner of War

Despite the new wealth brought to his forces by Nabal’s land and flocks, David, Abigail, and their followers were still not safe from Saul, who possessed a much larger army. They were soon forced to ally themselves with the Philistine king Achish and settle in Gath (1 Samuel 27:3). Achish later gave David charge of the town of Ziklag, where Abigail and David lived for more than a year while David led his men on various raiding parties as Achish’s agent. When David rode with Achish in preparation for the Battle of Gilboah against King Saul, however, Abigail and the other women of the town were kidnapped by an Amelikite raiding party. David…

    He Knows Your Name

The ancient rabbis regarded Abigail as one of the most remarkable women in Jewish history. She was said to be one of the four great beauties, the other three being Sarah, Rahab, and Esther. Her charm was irresistible to all who gazed on her. David was immediately enthralled by her and was only restrained by Abigail’s moral strength and dignity. Abigail was not, however, David’s only wife. King David had many wives, according to the Bible, although only eight of them are named. Of the eight, five are mentioned only once. The other three wives figure prominently in the story of King David. They are Michal, Abigail and Bathsheba. Many things changed…

    Nobel Character

What are some of the characteristics that you would look for in a spouse? What attributes would benefit your home and life if your spouse possessed them? David had just experienced the ideal characteristics he would like in a wife, during his encounter with Abigail. David recognized what an asset Abigail would be to him as a wife since she was clearly someone who managed well, protected her husband’s interests, and could recognize dangers in time to avert disaster. Perfect attributes of a wife for a soon to be king. When David heard that Nabal had died, he rejoiced that God has avenged him and that he had been spared…

    Miracle Worker

My friend’s daughter survived extreme breast cancer treatments a little over a year ago. During one of her routine follow up exams a spot was detected on her spine. After several tests it was determined that the cancer had returned and treatments would need to begin again. Throughout this entire time she has been the most encouraging and positive person I know. She arranged charity events that would help other cancer patients and she participated in several community activities to promote good will, all while continuing to be a wife and mother to two young girls. While praying for her one day I asked God what I should pray for,…
