Lessons In the Waiting: One Day at a Time
When you think of Spring 2020 words like pandemic, quarantine, Covid 19 and toilet paper hoarding might come to mind. Yet through all the chaos and uncertainty there are many lessons to be learned in the waiting. This time is a gift from our loving God.

Have you ever said, “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing?” I have and it is usually after I have finished off a large plate of food that at first seemed impossible and moments later it was completely devoured. How did I manage to do that? One bite at a time.
There have been several moments in the last few months that I have felt completely overwhelmed at the days ahead. They just feel too big and I can’t seem to wrap my head around how everything is going to work out.
I’m sure that I’m not alone in my feelings. Many people may be wondering how the bills will get paid or what the new normal will be like with schools, churches and businesses.
Similar to the large plate of food, but on a much larger scale, our current world situation feels too big to comprehend. How are we going to move forward and what are we moving forward to?
I found the answer in a Jesus Calling devotional that read:
“I AM taking care of you. Trust Me at all times. Trust Me in all circumstances. Trust me with all your heart.”
“Before your arise from your bed in the morning, I have already arranged the events of your day.”
“Accept each day just as it comes, and find Me in the midst of it all. Talk with Me about every aspect of your day, including your feelings. Remember that your ultimate goal is not to control or fix everything around you; it is to keep communing with Me. A successful day is one in which you have stayed in touch with Me.”
We will get through this one day at a time and we will get through it well by trusting Him and believing that He is in complete control. Who better to plan your days than our loving Father who is also the creator of the universe!
What seems impossible right now, in time will be a memory. Thank you Lord!
My Prayer
Father I am so grateful that before I begin a new day You have already arranged the events and taken care of the details. I get the privilege of trusting You and seeing You in each day. Thank you for the reminder to take it one day at a time and in Your perfect timing everything will fall perfectly into place. Thank you Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Where does my help come from?
Psalm 118:24
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us be full of joy and be glad in it.
