Live Boldly

Freedom

Happy Independence Day! Today we celebrate the privilege of living in a free country. As our nation lights up the skies with colorful displays of fireworks we can remember the words of our national anthem; “And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.”

Imagine those brave soldiers who fought throughout the night seeing the flag, which represented what they were fighting for, still waving in the air. The sight of the flag gave them hope and courage to press on. Because they trusted in that hope and carried on, we get to live in freedom.

We have the same opportunity to experience Godly freedom and to share that hope and encourage others. No doubt there are or have been sleepless nights that different types of bombs were exploding in your life. Nights that felt like they would never end and you desperately need a flash of hope. That banner of hope waving to encourage you is God’s word.

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort those who mourn, and to provide for those who grieve in Zion; to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and the garment of praise instead of the spirit of despair.” (Isaiah 61: 1-3)

Thank you Lord for true freedom! This is freedom in the midst of life no matter where you live. As believers our citizenship is in heaven and we can experience Godly freedom while on earth and that’s worth celebrating!

My Prayer

Father, thank you for freedom and for the privilege of living in this country. Help us to remember that no matter where we live, as believers our citizenship is in heaven with You. Thank you for your words of encouragement and hope that strengthens us and gives us hope for tomorrow. Help us celebrate true freedom which is found in a personal relationship with You. Lord, You set us free from our sins and gave us a new life life in You and for that we are truly grateful. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Where does my help come from?

Philippians 3:20

“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
