Brings You Peace
As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. – Luke 19:41-42 Our lives are riddled with evidence we live in a broken world – loss, hurt, death, betrayal, heartbreak and relationship breakdowns. It can feel at times like nobody understands the way we feel or the struggles we endure. But in the midst of our pain and suffering we need to remember that Jesus also felt everyone of those same emotions. When we cry what seems like rivers of tears, we need to remember…

The Heart
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” -1 Samuel 16:7 Our world is fascinated with titles and appearances. I remember years ago when I worked for a large corporation that they would give title promotions. The recipient did not receive more pay, but rather a more impressive title and more work responsibility. It was surprising how many people would strive to receive them. They were consumed by the outward appearance of their lives and perceived prosperity. But deep down they resented…

New Mercies
The love of the Lord is never exhausted, nor do his deeds of mercy ever come to an end. They are renewed every morning; his faithfulness never ceases. – Lamentations: 3: 22-23 Today’s verse not only encourages me but challenges me. It is a message of relief and peace to know that no matter what I did yesterday, the ways I fell short or the sins that I committed, I am blessed to be able to start today with a clean slate and renewed possibilities. It reminds me that God still loves me in spite of my failures and that He never gives up on me. His mercies, forgiveness and grace are new every morning.…

A Ministry of Presence
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11: 28-30 I recently read an article in the Decision magazine which is a publication of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. It shared about the many relief efforts that the rapid response teams of the organization have been involved with lately. They were on the scene of many natural disasters caused by twisters and flooding as well as school shootings. Their…

Be Fruitful
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” – Genesis 1:28 The command that God gave to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, “be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth,” still stands for us today. But that command has a much deeper meaning that just having children. There can be many reasons why someone may not have children and that does not make them fruitless. As Daughters of The King we have the opportunity to live…

My Daily Goal
The travel industry, like everyone else, has experienced continued changes and new regulations with many twists and turns. One day everything is a go and the next there are major disruptions for one reason or another. It’s enough to make even the kindest person short tempered. I was speaking with a cruise representative the other day who was very upbeat and joyful. It was a nice change from the frustrated responses and discouragement that usually accompany vendor phone calls. She told me that with all the negativity and world issues, she has made it her daily goal to make someone smile with each phone call. Her enthusiasm was contagious and…

Quick to forgive
As, therefore, God’s picked representatives of the new humanity, purified and beloved of God himself, be merciful in action, kindly in heart, humble in mind. Accept life, and be most patient and tolerant with one another, always ready to forgive if you have a difference with anyone. Forgive as freely as the Lord has forgiven you. And, above everything else, be truly loving, for love is the golden chain of all the virtues. – Colossians 3: 13 One thing that came to my attention when I was researching the Lord’s Prayer was the daily need for forgiveness, both for myself and for others. It made me stop and think about…

Royal Privilege, Royal Expectations
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. – 1 Peter 2:9 What a privilege we have to be called and known as Daughters of The King. We have been created in the image of God and given a unique and personal destiny that will serve a much higher purpose that we can even imagine. As Daughters of The King we are His ambassadors, living representatives of God Himself here on earth. Along with the privilege of living a redeemed life we get to live loved by God. We…

Passionately
Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men. – Colossians 3: 23 Enthusiasm comes from two Greek words: en, which means “in,” and theos, which means, “God.” So if you are in God, you have enthusiasm. It is an intense and eager enjoyment or interest that creates a passion for something or someone. When you live with a passion for God, you take performing your work and living your life from a place of “have to” to a place of “get to.” That is the heart of the Daily Bread pages in the Royal Records of the Daughter of the King book.…

God charts the road you take
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wickedor stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in seasonand whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. Psalm 1 Years ago the church I was attending started a project to help attendees memorize…
