Your Victory Song

Music is a beautiful way to communicate, tell stories, celebrate and remember. The day after the Lord gave the victory to Israel over the king of Canaan, Deborah and Barak sang a song.

The song is found in Judges 5 and recounted the events that had taken place and it proclaimed God’s greatness by giving Him credit for the victory. That song was also an excellent way to preserve and retell this wonderful story from generation to generation.

Songs of praise focus our attention on God, give us an outlet for spiritual celebration, and remind us of God’s faithfulness and character. Whether you are experiencing a great victory or a major dilemma, singing praises to God can have a positive effect on your attitude.

A few weeks ago I when I was struggling in a fog, I turned on my computer and watched church online. The minute the worship music began I could feel my spirit being uplifted.

This continued when I turned on the radio in my car later that week and heard praise and worship music. I wanted to raise both my hands and sing with all my heart.

Worshiping God has a special power that lifts our minds and souls right to His thrown. It connects us and reminds us of who He is and all He’s done.

When was the last time that you sang a victory song after a season of trials? Do you have your own victory song?

This message challenged me to daily take a moment and just sing or listen to a song in worship to God. It can be a well known song or one that I make up in the moment, He likes them both.

When I open my window the birds join in and we have our own melody which makes it even better. Those few moments of song set my heart and mind on a grateful and thankful path for the day and reminds me that God gives us many reasons to sing.

Be Intentional about worshiping God in song.

Praises & Prayers

Lord, I could sing of Your love forever! Thank you for giving us the gift of worship and I pray that we will direct it fully to You. Help us to worship you in the good, the bad, the difficult and the unknown. Thank you for the peace and joy that it give us and I pray that we will be mindful of singing our victory song for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Messages from His Word

Psalm 40:3

He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD.
