Live Boldly

You give them something to eat

After receiving a much needed lesson in prayer and Holy Expectation, my heart began to soften towards others and I took some time to really talk with God about the people He had placed on my heart.  He has blessed me with more than I need so that I can be a blessing to others, not so I can sit back and say, “I’m fine.  I have no requests.  My life is blessed.”

I limited my own understanding of who Jesus is and what He can do based on my own human logic.  People issues can be hard and messy and at times I really don’t want to deal with them.  Using my human logic I reasoned that God would not want to deal with them either.  Not true.  My lack of compassion had dismissed the needs of others.  I would put their issues back on them; it was their choice….they need to figure it out….they need to change.

When the people came to Jesus they were hungry.  They had a physical need that needed to be met in order for them to be able to listen to His teachings.    The people I am called to pray for are also so hungry they can’t hear.  They don’t know of their need for Jesus because their physical, financial, emotional and basic needs and desires are not met and that’s all they can focus on.   I can’t see their real deep needs, but God can and that’s where He invites me to be apart of His God Adventures.

I am blessed to be a blessing.   In Mark 6:37 Jesus said, “You give them something to eat.”  There are so many needs in this world and at times they can seem endless.   In my own little world there are daily demands at home, work and socially.  How do I keep from getting discouraged and frustrated?   By remembering it was God who called me to this.   “He will provide beyond my wildest dreams,” that’s what my Sunshine Prophesy said.   That provision is not always tangible things.   Look at all the emotional and spiritual provisions He gives us.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
   He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
     He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for his name’s sake.

 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

 You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

Isn’t that amazing!  God meets every possible need I may have while I am doing all I can to meet the needs of others.  I can’t out give God!  When Jesus had fed the 5000 the bible says, “They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls.”  There was more than enough.  Jesus is more than enough!  Even if I had no physical or material things in the world, I would still have plenty to give.  In Acts 3: 6 Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you.  In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”

What are the people I am praying for needing that will give them security and peace – confidence in who they are?  They need Jesus.  I should be giving Him to them.  Feeding them with the abundance that I have.

My prayer

Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I will look to the Lord

 I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me

Father, please forgive the hardness of my heart, my lack of faith in you to do what I assume is impossible.  Please help me to live in Holy Expectation of your plans and purposes and to joyfully give all you’ve given to me.

Open my eyes to see the beauty in people, to see them as you do, not as a burden, but as a beautiful opportunity.  Soften my heart to have Christlike compassion for all people, listen to your leading and obey.

Give me a servants heart to feed others – to give “You” out freely and in abundance – You are more than enough.  Refine me Lord.  Thank you for the opportunity to  work with you and see your unconditional love in action.

I am so blessed Lord,  help me to be a blessing to others.  Amen

Where does my help come from?

Mark 6:37

“You give them something to eat”

Acts 3:6

“Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you.”
