You Are Under Attack!
When my sweet friend Veronica said those words to me it was a surreal moment. The thought that the enemy of our souls was behind all the confusion and sickness never crossed my mind. But it was true and in that moment I had a decision to make. Would I surrender or would I fight?
One of the biggest victories in war, as a believer, is knowing who your enemy is. It isn’t the illness, the finances or people. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
His whole purpose is to make us ineffective for God and if that means distracting us so that our focus is on our problems and circumstances, then he is winning.
It’s in that moment that we recognize we are under attack, the battle lines shift and we are in a crises of belief. What are we going to believe about our situation? Are we going to choose defeat or are we going to speak truth into the circumstances and stand on the promises of God?
Yes there is going to be a battle. No it will not be fun. But there is Godly purpose to that battle just like my friend Diane shared with me, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4)
In Deborah’s story the battle they faced was against Sisera and his 900 iron chariots! Can you imagine going to battle on foot against horses and chariots of iron? But their battle was already won. Deborah encouraged Barak and his men saying, “Has not the Lord gone ahead of you?”
The bible verse my friend shared said that I would not be lacking anything! That verse is for you too! Whatever you are facing, no matter how big the odds may seem, God is already there!
Be Intentional about recognizing the real enemy and standing on the promises of God
Praises & Prayer
Lord, thank you for helping me know who the real enemy is and for the encouragement of Your word and promises. I know Lord that You are already there in the midst and that the victory has already been won. Help me to stand on Your truth and be encouraged as I encourage others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
