Worship – Fills My Cup

How long can you listen to a really good song before you are tapping your fingers or toes or jumping in and singing along? The rhythm catches you and you begin singing word for word the lyrics that make your heart sing.

That’s worship. Worship is where we can lift our voices in praise to the One and Only worthy of those praises, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It doesn’t matter if you can carry a tune or not, He hears your heart and you can lift your arm up high as you reach out to your audience of One. Worship is where we can abandon whatever holds us back – no limits – just you and God. Worship is where your heart’s emotions reach heaven.

I was reading through song lyrics for the Women’s retreat and my mind began humming the tunes that went along with them. As I read the words my spirit lifted with each word of truth that I was reading.

It’s the same way when you read the book of Psalm. King David’s heart was poured out to God in every way possible and he worshiped God with everything he had.

One of my favorite things about going to a Christian concert is to listen to the thousands of believers worshiping together – all out for God. It’s powerful and someday we will be doing it along side all the angels in heaven – worshiping our King.

My Prayer

Father, thank you for the gift of worship. Thank you for the many talented musicians that have complied songs and music for us to worship You. But Lord I know that You hear me humming my own tune as well. You listen to our hearts and I pray that I will worship You without abandon. In Jesus’ name, amen.
