What does God say?
Your word is like a lamp for my feet and a light for my path it shows how life should be lived. Psalm 119:105 EXB
Like many of you, I’m tired of all the dirt, darkness, and lies that this year’s political circus has created. I’ve found myself doubting everything that is printed or broadcast by either side. I can see the pure evil in so many of the issues that face our country and demand our vote. Some are so veiled with misleading words that their true intentions are masked with deception in order to steal support for the promoting parties’ political gain and agendas. Meanwhile, each party is out to claim power rather than to serve the nation they are elected to represent. It has become an unsettling and ungodly mess.
But….last week I received a copy of Decision magazine. It is published by the Billy Graham Association and it gave me a simple answer to every item on the ballot. No, it didn’t tell me who or what to vote for although it did a wonderful job of showing “how the candidates and parties align with moral and Biblical issues—and why Christians must vote.” What it did say about each major issue that our nation faces was…what God says about them. Passages from His Word, the Bible, addressed every item on the ballot and unlike the media, God is completely trustworthy. His Word is truth!
Seeing His word next to these important issues not only cleared the deception but also brought to light how far our country has fallen from God. It included other articles that encouraged me to pray more for our country and its leaders and reminded me that regardless of the outcome in November, God is, and always will be, in control.
My prayer is that believers will vote for God’s will. That our nation will repent and return to Him. That our children and grandchildren will not have to live in a nation ruined by man’s selfish and wrong desires. I pray that Godly leaders will rise up and serve this nation in righteousness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
