What are you believing God for?
You do not have because you do not ask God. – James 4:2
During my quiet time today the thought, “What are you believing God for?” came to mind. It continued with, “What are you waiting for?” “What are you dreaming for?” and “What have I asked God for?” I realized that I am just drifting along day by day without Godly expectation. I don’t have, because I don’t ask.
I started to mentally go through the people on my prayer list and the prayers that I have for them, but quickly realized that I pray for these things but I often don’t expect them to happen. Not because God isn’t able, but because some of the people on my list are very strong willed and because my prayers are often what I want for them, thinking that God agrees with my idea of how they should respond. That’s a sad place for my heart and mind to rest. I need to pray with Godly expectation.
The parable of the sower and the seed (Matthew 13: 1-9) reminded me that there are lots of different soils and my job is to spread seeds with intention of a harvest. I’m called to sow seeds and continue sowing seeds while believing that God will take care of the details.
So I asked myself the question again, “What am I believing God for?” My answer- I’m believing that He will make a way.
- A way for the addict to say no more
- A way for the unbeliever to say – “Yes, Lord!”
- A way for a family to come together in love
- A way for the stubborn to soften and believe
- A way for the sower to know it’s all worth the time and effort….Every seed matters!
- A way when there seems to be no way.
Yes Lord! I’m believing You for that!
