Walk In Your Authority
In a devotional I read last week I was reminded how important it is to regularly ask God to search my heart and reveal anything that is hindering my walk with Him. When we ask with a sincere desire to know, God will answer.
I prayed that prayer and that very day the revelations began. Several different circumstances provided the stage that would reveal what my heart really thought and felt. And it wasn’t pretty.
Plans of others overlapped what I wanted. Work demands increased. Comments in conversations pushed my value aside. In exhaustion my thoughts became projections of what I thought might take place.
All of these were ways that God was answering my request and at the same time providing teaching moments for me. He had searched my heart and found selfishness, anxiousness, frustration and anger. Now it was up to me to following His leading and walk in the authority of His word, using the power He has given me to apply the truth to each situation. Then to act in love and self control.
Unexpected plans for the weekend now became an opportunity to show love and service to others. My quiet moments with God will not be missed as I worried, just done differently.
Increased work demands are truly a gift from God and give me the opportunity to lean into Him for wisdom and discernment to use my time wisely and choose the attitude that I will do all of it as if for Him.
Comments about my value and worth can be taken captive and made obedient to the truth of how God sees my value which is priceless, deeply loved and as a Daughter of the King.
My anxious and projecting thoughts can also be taken captive and stopped by thinking about what is true, what is right, what is lovely and admirable. Then swept away by repentance.
That’s what it means to walk in the Godly authority we have been given. We can take every situation, whether planned, unexpected, our choice or dumped on us by others, to God and receive clear direction, discernment and the desire to handle them in the way that would honor Him.
In doing this He makes our burdens light and gives rest to our souls.
Be Intentional about walking in the Godly Authority you have been given.
