Waiting For A Miracle
But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. His sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him. (Exodus 2:2-4)
No doubt you have found yourself in a similar situation. Someone you love is in need of a miracle whether it’s for healing, salvation, protection or even provision and you have prayed and done all you can to help them. Now you stand at a distance and watch to see what will happen, what God will do.
When you think about Miram’s (Moses’ sister) situation, you will notice that many miracles took place. The Nile river was full of dangerous animals such as crocodiles, hippopotamus and snakes. A small basket carrying a baby could easily have been a target for any one of them. But a miracle of protection took place.
While Miriam kept watch Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. From there even more miracles took place. First Pharaoh’s daughter chose that exact time and place to bathe. Second, Miriam wasn’t discovered by the attendant as she was hiding on the river bank. Then of course the most talked about miracle, the Princess discovering the basket and rescuing Moses from the river.
This story has helped me to take a look at the miracles I’m waiting for with a new mindset. As I wait for the salvation of a loved one there are miracles taking place that are leading up to that answered prayer. Their hearts are softening and God is placing people in their lives the will assist in bringing that miracle to fulfillment. Others are experiencing God’s peace while leaning into Him during the waiting for healing. And God continually provides everything that is needed in the meantime.
What miracles are taking place in your life and the lives of your loved ones that you might have overlooked while waiting for the answer to your prayers? While waiting for your miracle remember that God is ever present and working out the details in miraculous ways.
Be Intentional about seeing God’s hand work miracles all around you.
