Under Your wings
Be good to me, God—and now!
I’ve run to you for dear life.
I’m hiding out under your wings
until the hurricane blows over.
I call out to High God,
the God who holds me together.
Psalm 57:1-2 MSG
This was the perfect verse for my day. It started well and before I knew it, everything, including time, was whirling around at what seemed like warp speed. I felt that I was racing against the clock and it was winning. Just as I began to catch up, another burst of activity began.
Eventually the day came to an end and I had time to sit and reflect, that’s when I read this verse. As I reviewed the events of the day I could see how it was God who held me together. He was right there with me, protecting me from discouraging thoughts and encouraging me to do each task as if for Him.
As I sat on my couch I could imagine His arms around me, comforting me and giving me some much needed rest for my weary soul. The NIV translation of this verse speaks about taking refuge in the shadow of His wings.
Refuge means a place of shelter, security or a sanctuary. That perfectly describes how it felt to be in the arms of God at that moment. This Psalm ends with, For great is Your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Thank you Lord. May You be exalted and glorified.
