Live Boldly

Trial of Faith

Faith is one of the most frequently used words in the Christian vocabulary. As believers in Christ, we have already demonstrated saving faith which took place the moment that we surrendered our hearts and lives to Jesus by accepting His sacrifice on the cross for our sins and when we chose to accept His authority over our lives as our Lord and Savior.

The next step is sustaining faith which is belief in the assurance that the things which God has said in His Word are true and that God will keep the promises that He has made. Exercising sustaining faith is a life long process and God has provided all that we will need to accomplish this. He has given us the Armor of God which includes the shield of faith, a piece of armor which we are to use to quench the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Like Jochebed, we all experience trials, difficulties and obstacles that make life look hopeless. But like Jochebed, instead of living in fear and despair, we can raise the shield of faith and live with confidence and hope. Early on in my christian life I heard the phrase ‘crisis of belief’ which is a pivotal point where we must make the choice to fully rely on God and trust Him. When we face trials and temptations we are at crossroads of faith where our choice reflects our beliefs and it’s that sustaining faith in God, especially in the hardest moments of our lives, that gives us the strength the carry on, the peace that surpasses understanding, the comfort from the God of all comfort and the hope for the future.

When Brock went to be with Jesus I was faced with the question, “Do you still believe?” It was the biggest crisis of belief that I’ve experienced in my life and the one that has been the most rewarding in my relationship with Christ. I’ve experienced God’s faithfulness, comfort, peace and joy is ways that far exceed anything I could imagine. I also have the most incredible hope for the future knowing that I will see Brock again and that someday every tear will be wiped away and the promise of eternity awaits.

What will you choose to believe in your trials of faith? Who will you choose to believe? God is faithful and true.

Be Intentional in remaining faithful to the words and promises of God.

Praises & Prayers

Father, thank you for Your faithfulness! I’m so grateful that I can choose to hold tight to Your words and promises and that in doing so, I will exercise sustaining faith. Help me to raise the shield of faith often and grow in my walk with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Messages from His Word

Ephesians 6:10-17

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
