Treasured in Her Heart
Have you ever noticed that when a new baby is born and the mother is telling you about the details of the birth, you are reminded of the birth of your own child. Instantly all the fine details come to mind and you are taken back to the moments that changed your life forever.
The bible tells us that when the shepherds told Mary all the details of the angel’s message that she treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. There was also a second time when those same words are recorded. It was when Jesus was 12 years old and they lost him in Jerusalem.
You may have personally experienced that same gut wrenching feeling of not knowing where your child is when they wander off in the grocery store or while on a hike in the mountains. But imagine losing the Son of God! Poor Mary. When they found Jesus at the temple he simply asked them why they were searching for him. Didn’t they know he would be in His father’s house? Again, Mary treasured all these things in her heart.
We have be entrusted with the care of the children that God has given to us. How often do we treasure the moments and ponder on them? Do we see the ways that God is working in their lives and encourage them to grow in their own relationships with Him?
Storing up memories and reflecting on them can help us to guide our gifts from God in the direction that He has prepared for them. As we look back we are also encouraged by the way that we see God’s hand in their lives. The memories are treasures no matter how grown up are children become.
Be Intentional about seeing the moments in your children’s lives.
Praises & Prayers
Father, thank you for the many moments that we experience with our kids. It’s a beautiful thing to see Your hand on their lives and to be entrusted with them. Help us to guide them to You Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
