Times of Crisis
Throughout the story of Abigail there were many situations that created a crisis.
- She was married to a mean and surly man
- Her household was threatened with death because of her husband’s insulting words.
- She faced an angry band of warriors
- She dealt with a drunken and greedy husband
- She became a widow
- She remarried and became a second wife among many
- She was a prisoner of war
- She was a mother
Can you relate to any of these situations? What should be our attitude when a crisis thrusts itself upon us?
First we need to remember that God never allows a situation that He will not prepare us for and walk us through. If He brings us to it, He will bring us through it.
Abigail had learned that life was not about circumstances – good or bad – but how you responded to the circumstances. She didn’t let fear hold her back and moved forward in God’s courage and wisdom.
The challenges that we face in life have purpose. They can refine us and make us more like Christ if we choose the right attitude of faith concerning them. When we do we will receive His peace and can even experience joy in the midst of them.
God knows what you are going through and understands the burden you carry. He is fighting for you right now, even when it’s hard to see. Keep following His leading and press in close to His presence. He is faithful and will give you grace enough for each day and power to walk through the most difficult situations.
Be Intentional about developing an attitude of faith

Praises & Prayers
Father, there are many circumstances that we face that completely overwhelm us. At times we even wonder where You are or if you even care. Lord help us to remember that You know every detail of every moment and that there is purpose in the suffering. Help us to trust in You and choose to have an attitude of faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Messages from His Word
1 Peter 1:6-7
In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
