Thunderings
Yesterday as I attended a prayer group at church I was in awe at the compassion that each request was given. There was heart felt concern and a desire to see God’s will in each of the lives of the petitioners.
Prayers for healing, softening of hearts, comfort and direction were being made as a thunderstorm rolled in. The loud rumbles and the cracks of lightening shook the windows but we continued to pray. As this was happening I thought of Mt. Sinai and the Israelites that were in awe at the power of God as the mountain rumbled with His presence.
The volume of the storm made the volume of the prayers increase. It was an amazing moment to hear the power in the storm and know that the God who has the power over the storm also has the power to hear and answer prayers. I knew that God was right there with us and it was very humbling to be in the presence of God.
When we left the prayer meeting we were greeted with a bright and beautiful double rainbow. Reminders of God’s promise.
Later that night I received a call from a friend that was struggling in a relationship. She said she needed to hear from God and we prayed for direction and that God would give me the words that she needed to hear.
Later in the conversation I mentioned “a bump in the road” and she got very excited. That was the message she needed to hear. Unbeknownst to me, she had been told those same words earlier by her partner and had thought the worst.
She said when she heard those words, she knew that was God reconfirming that He was with her and would strengthen their relationship. Her whole spirit lifted and she found hope and promise for the days ahead. God is so good!
My Prayer
Father, what an amazing opportunity it is to pray for others, to see Your power and to witness You blessing others with words of encouragement. Thank you for the lesson to pray louder and harder when the thunder is roaring because You hear. Thank you for the perfectly timed rainbows that reminded all of us that You are a God who makes and keeps His promises and You will never leave us nor forsake us. I love you Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Where does my help come from?
Matthew 18:20
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
