The Truth Will Set You Free
The hardest part of being set free from something is acknowledging that you have a problem. I don’t like to admit that I have problems but God has such a loving way of revealing areas that I need to work on that I can’t help but be humbled and willing to comply.
I have always thought of myself as a positive person, but today as I was reading a scenario in the Battlefield of the Mind I thought, “That’s me.” The author was describing a very negative attitude. Ouch!
She shared her struggle with being negative and once she faced the truth she said, “I’m a negative person and I want to change. I can’t change by myself, but I believe God will change me as I trust in Him. I know it will take time, and I’m not going to get discouraged with myself. God has begun a good work in me and He is able to bring it to full completion.”
Many of the thoughts that I have struggled with can be traced back to a negative mindset. Thinking back to how many years I have allowed this negativity to reign in my mind is sad. So much wasted time and thoughts.
But just like the author I am admitting that I am negative and I will change with the divine power of God that lives in me. He called me to this study so that He could address issues that are holding me back for being all that He has called me to be.
He is revealing truth. Although some of that truth is painful, it is needful in being set free.
My Prayer
Father, thank you for revealing the truth about my attitude and mindset. Please forgive me and help me to be set free from those strongholds. I believe that You will be faithful to complete what You have started in me. Help me to be faithful as well and follow Your Divine leading. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Where does my help come from?
John 8:32
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
