The Lord Has Done This For Me
“Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” (Luke 1: 13-17)
Finally her prayers were answered and in Godly fashion. Not only would Elizabeth have a child but he would be the forerunner of the Messiah! Can you even imagine the excitement and the awe that she must have felt, no wonder she went into seclusion for five months.
I imagine her daily touching her growing stomach and praising God with each movement. What a thrill to be experiencing the long awaited answer to prayer. Along with the joy she must have also felt a huge sense of responsibility to teach her son everything she knew about God, helping to prepare him for the calling on his own life.
Everyday we too can experience that excitement and awe for what the Lord has done for us. Think of the lengths that He went to save us, the patience He gives to refine us and hope that He fills us with for the promises of eternity.
Like Elizabeth, we would be wise to take some time and ponder all that the Lord has done for us so that we can truly appreciate His mercy and grace. His perfect timing and His generous provision. His leading and guidance through the Holy Spirit and His Word.
What a blessed people we are! Thank you Lord for all You’ve done for us!

Praises & Prayers
Father, thank you for all of Your wonderful gifts and promises. Often we don’t remember or see all the ways that You are blessing us and I pray that we will take a moment and praise You, thank You and be in awe of You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
