The King’s Ambassador
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. – 2 Corinthians 5:20
What does it mean to be an ambassador of the King? It means reflecting His message, His character, and His methods wherever He’s placed us. In other words, we are God’s messengers, sent to represent Him and draw others to Him by the way we conduct our lives.
Being an ambassador is not about us. It’s not a position to carelessly claim when we feel like being Christlike, then set aside when we don’t want to follow Jesus’ example because we want our own way.
When we represent Christ, we do the things He did. We respond like He did and we live radically differently than the world around us, just like He did. Every day God is working in and through us by the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells within each believer. It’s that power and godly character that guides us, makes it’s appeals through us and transforms us so that when the world sees us, they see Jesus.
What a privilege it is to represent the One who bought us with His precious blood and made a way for us to have a renewed relationship with God. There is no better way to express our thanks than to tell others about Him and demonstrate by our changed lives, the saving power of our loving Savior.
Jesus is who we represent. Does your life look like His? Do you respond like He does? Do you love like He does? Do you forgive like He does?
As you begin your day today, remember who you are and who you represent.
