The Godly Character of Faithfulness
His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.
Matthew 25:21
The things we have in life are blessings from God and He has entrusted us with them. He hasn’t given us all the same things. We each have differences in financial status, health, intellect, skills and talents, etc. No matter how much or how little, they are all gifts from God and are exactly what is needed for us to accomplish all He had prepared in advance for us to do.
What will you do with the blessings you’ve been given as you await the return of the Lord? Will you use them to help and serve others? Will you keep them for yourself or even worse bury them by not using them? God’s desire is that we would learn to be faithful stewards and put them to use for His glory.
To do that, we must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross, because He knew that later on He would be glad He did. Now He is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. He never lost sight of where He was headed nor should we. The promise of eternity with Christ should spur us on to faithfully live for Him now. He is worth it!
When we’re faithful to God it means that we trust that He will care for us, we follow where He leads, and we love Him. Faithfulness does not mean that we will be perfect. It does not mean that we won’t struggle or that we won’t make poor decisions. It does mean that we will continue to trust in God and try to follow His commandments even when life is difficult.
