The Family Business

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20

My husband has often talked about the different construction contractors that have owned their own businesses. As soon as their kids are old enough they start working for the family business. The hopes of the fathers is that one day their kids will be able to step in and work the business from the experience and knowledge they have accummulated over the years.

As children of God we too have been called to work in the family business and that business is the work of reconciliation through redemption. We have been called to be His ambassadors, to represent His message and His character in whatever environment He has placed us in and to lead the lost to Him.

We have been called, as Daughters of The King, to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and we have the privilege of representing His love by the way we speak and care for others. We have been placed in our exact locations and circumstances with the purpose of being a visual representation of Him. The way that we show mercy, grace, love, forgiveness and patience have the power to draw others to Him.

We have been redeemed, bought at a price and we now belong to Him. All that we have is from Him and to be used for Him. That means that our personalities, our talents, our emotions, our possessions and our relationships are all given to us by God to be used for Him.

We were created for good works which He prepared in advance for us to do, and in that calling He has fully equipped and empowered us to go and make disciples. This privilege is not reserved for a select few, it’s given to each and every child of God. He is desiring that we become part of the family business by loving God and loving people. In doing that, we get to be the face of Jesus to a hurting world.
