Sweet Serena
I received a phone call the other day from a woman named Serena. She said that her counselor had found my name online in conjunction with Grief Share.
She told me that she had lost her significant other about a year ago and was deeply struggling with her grief. The church I attend was getting ready to restart the Grief Share program and I invited her go join us. I told her I would send her the book so she would be ready for the class.
About a month later the class dates were all set and I wanted to call Serena to give her the details but I couldn’t find her phone number. I search my call history and prayed that God would help me find her.
I came across a number that I didn’t recognize and called. It went straight to a generic voice mail and I left a message. I then searched facebook and found a woman by the same name and sent her a message to call me.
Within a few minutes my phone rang and it was Serena. Praise God! She said she happened to be in town that day and wondered if we could meet.
When she arrived we had the opportunity to talk for awhile and when I asked her if she had a bible she said no, but that she would get one before class. Right then God said, “Give her your bible.” When I did she teared up and said thank you.
I saw before me a very broken woman that needs Jesus. My heart went out to her and I was in awe of how God had orchestrated the phone call and the meeting.
Thank you Lord for always taking care of each and every detail. I know that You are working in Serena’s life and I pray that she will come to know You as her Lord and Savior. I pray that she will find comfort and peace from her grief as well.
