Sufficient
Martha is a woman in the bible that I can relate too. She is a hard worker who, at times, feels overwhelmed by her commitments and worries about things that she feels have great importance.
Although I’ve never spoke to Jesus face to face, I have exhibited the same attitude in my requests and prayers as Martha did. “Lord, don’t you see how hard I’m working. Can’t you make them help me?”
Most often when I make those requests of the Lord, His response is, “My grace is sufficient.” For the longest time I understood that to mean that He would give me the strength, energy and wisdom to accomplish what seems, and is, impossible in my own strength.
But that verse is also for the people that I’m complaining about. His grace is sufficient for them as well. That means that He has covered their shortcomings just has He has covered mine. He has given them grace, just as He gave grace to me. He has given them the opportunity to choose what really matters and He’s done the same for me.
No matter how full my schedule is or how overwhelmed I feel, if I focus on the ONE thing that matters, I will be given everything I need to accomplish every task.
It may be that I will be given wisdom to understand which tasks are really necessary or perhaps I will receive His strength and energy to finish them well.
I must not forget that He sees me and He knows. When He tells me that His grace is sufficient…..I just need to believe that it is.
Be Intentional about trusting in God’s sufficiency.
Praises & Prayers
Father, thank you for always calming and correcting my heart. You are more than enough and You always make a way. Help me to remember that Your grace is also for everyone else. You know. You see. And You always provide. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Messages from His Word
2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
