Strangers
Two times this week I have had encounters with strangers that were very uplifting and took me by surprise.
The first was a man that was looking at the pictures in the office window. I was reading a message on my computer that made me smile and he saw me and walked in the office.
He said that my smile made him smile and he wanted to say thank you. It had made his day to see me smiling. I think it was the opposite; it made my day that he would take the time to come in the office and say something.
Many people walk by the office and view the photos in the display windows and this man made the effort to comment and let me know that I was noticed.
The next was a few days later as I was walking in from the parking lot. I said good morning to a man that I was passing and he stopped and said, “Thank You.” He went on to say that he appreciated that I was wearing a dress and that he doesn’t see many women wear them anymore. He said I looked beautiful and that I made his day. Again just the opposite, he made mine.
I had been feeling like it didn’t matter what I wore, nothing looked or felt attractive. Then God sent a stranger to tell me that I looked nice.
It was a sweet reminder that He knows our every thought and will send the encouragement we need at just the right moments. At times we get to be the encouragement that someone else needs.
Lord, please help me to be mindful of others and speak the words You give me that You know will make their day and let them know that You see them.
