Live Boldly

Start again Monday

The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. – Proverbs 24:16

While on vacation I walked quite a bit but I fell prey to the,”it’s a special occasion so a few desserts are okay,” mindset and no surprise, I gained back a few of the pounds I had worked so hard to lose. Even when I was in the midst of deciding whether or not to partake, I could hear the verse, “When tempted He will provide a way out.” I just didn’t take it.

The enemy didn’t stop there. At home I was attacked mentally about the new number on the scale and condemnation started knocking at the door. For a couple of days I listened to the discouragement that came from thoughts like, ” You should be stronger by now.” “Look how quickly you feel back into old unhealthy eating patterns.” “You blew it!” Those thoughts only delayed the right course of action and I found myself saying, “I’ll start over Monday.”

When I finally came to my senses and took accountability for my actions, I repented and actually did start again on Monday. I stopped wallowing in self pity and just started right where I was. The truth was that I was still re-starting at a better place than the beginning. I began to speak truth to myself, dusted off and recommitted to my Royal MakeOver.

The enemy loves it when we fall, but God’s Word tells us that though the righteous fall seven times, they will get back up again. God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey Him and the power to do what pleases Him (Phil. 2:13) every day of the week.
