Springtime is Coming
My soul waits for the Lord to break into the world more than night watchmen expect the break of day, even more than night watchmen expect the break of day. Psalm 130:6
Today before I began writing this post I looked outside and saw a cold, windy, and rainy day. Pretty typical weather for this time of year. The view is grey and almost barren. But my view of the day quickly changed when I read the following quote:
“Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf of springtime.” – Martin Luther
I then looked out the window again and saw raindrops on the glass, trees swaying in the wind, and old dried-up leaves clinging tightly to the almost bare branches, and was reminded that spring is coming. You can feel it in the air, see it in the rain and soon new buds will appear, flowers will push through the unthawing soil and new life will bring vibrant color, fullness and promise.
Looking out the window in expectancy changed my gloomy mood to one of hope and promise. Looking toward Easter brings even greater expectations and promises of new life, hope, and resurrection. Each day is one day closer to meeting Jesus face to face and being reunited with our loved ones who have gone to be with the Lord. Each new day brings us closer to the promise of eternity with Christ.
Springtime is coming, but more importantly Jesus is coming. Come, Lord Jesus! My soul waits for you in expectancy.
