Speak to Me….Word of God
I am blessed because I have believed that the Lord would fulfill what He has spoken to me. Luke 1:45
Several months ago a friend of mine was going through an extremely dangerous reaction to drugs that he had taken. They caused him to hallucinate and do things he would never have done in his right mind. When I heard about his situation I began praying and praying. Then the Lord gave me a verse to pray over my friend which has become a lifeline and promise to hold on to and to trust in. Psalm 40: 1-3
I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
Everytime that my friend comes to mind, I’m to pray this verse over him and trust that God is going to do a mighty work in his life and his family’s lives as well.
A few week ago I had the opportunity to see my friend and when he asked me what I believed about God I was able to share my faith. My belief that God is My Everything and why He is. It was such a precious moment and I prayed that my friend would hear and desire to know more about my amazing God.
Then last week I received a call that my friend tried to take his own life. Thankfully he did not succeed. God has other plans for him. My heart was broken and I called out to God in prayer and He told me to keep praying Psalm 40 over my friend. So I did. And I will. Over and over again.
Then I started to read through my Truth Scripts and the very first verse was today’s passage, “I am blessed because I have believed that the Lord would fulfill what He has spoken to me. Luke 1:45” God was telling me to trust Him and to believe that when He gives a Word it is also a promise. His ways are not my ways nor are His thoughts my thoughts. He has a plan and however He chooses to fulfill them, it will be done the right way.
A quote I heard this week said that we talk to God through prayer and we hear from Him through His Word. His message was very clear, “Never cease praying for your friend and trust that I will do what I said I would do. – God” Thank you, Lord for the peace of Your Word and Your presence.
