Sit For Awhile

I truly love those moments when God orchestrates a time out that becomes a private retreat with Him. Moments that we couldn’t have planned if we tried and they turn out to be just what we needed.

Last weekend we had a few days of golf planned and I was raring to go. As our tee time approached Tracy mentioned that his ankle was sore and a bit swollen and that he should stay off of it for a few days.

When I had packed for the weekend I threw in a book just in case I had some down time. With the cancellation of our golf plans I now had that time.

The book was called Anxious for Nothing by Max Lucado and over the next couple of days I read the entire book. It was such a gift from God. He wanted me sit with Him and hear His message in a way that only Max Lucado can give it. The book was about finding calm in a chaotic world and that is exactly what I found as I read it.

I was blessed with warm temperatures and a slight overcast which made sitting under the tree by the river the perfect place to take in all that God wanted me to hear. While I was being renewed Tracy was getting the rest he needed by being off his feet and relaxing. God is so good!

The book was a beautiful reminder that in Christ, we truly have nothing to be anxious about. Not only was God giving me time to relax and breathe while being reminded of His promises, He was preparing me for the week ahead. Although it would be a short work week, with the holiday weekend approaching, it would be a busy week. The same amount of work needed to be done with less time.

Many times over the next few days as anxiety would try to take hold, I would say to myself, “be anxious for nothing,” and I was reminded that God was in complete control and He would give me the ability to handle any situation that was placed before me. I knew that I could do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I felt empowered and encouraged and it all started with God orchestrating time to sit with Him awhile.

My Prayer

Father, I am so blessed that You want to spend time with me and it is always a blessing. Thank you for the time out and opportunity to sit with You for awhile. You knew exactly what I needed to be reminded of and in perfect timing. Lord I know that You see and You know. That You love us in the most incredible way. I love you Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Where does my help come from?

Matthew 11:29

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
