Shake It Up
There are many things that you shake all with the purpose of changing it. You shake several ingredients together to make a smoothie. You shake a sheet to unfold it and make it reach the corners of your bed. Sometimes you might even shake a person to get their attention.
My routine is going to get a good shaking. In thinking about it, I feel like a safety net is being taken away. The schedule I know and I’m comfortable with is getting revamped and although it’s a good and necessary thing, it’s also uncomfortable and unfamiliar.
Many factors are causing the shaking; work, change of seasons that bring yard work and weekends in different locations and a new puppy just to name a few. Of course I still want to have my devotional time, writing time, workout time and an occasional relaxing bubble bath. How am I going to fit this all in?
First I need to remember that my schedule is firmly in God’s hand. He will show me the best way to accomplish everything I need to be doing. He will also help me eliminate those things that are not needed.
Next, I need to trust and obey Him. If my morning workout needs to be moved to after dinner to accommodate walking the new puppy, then I need to be willing to change.
Change is good. When you think about it, the smoothie tastes much better after it is shaken up and the fresh clean sheets on a bed make sleep much more relaxing. I’m sure that a new shake up in my routine will be just what I need.
My Prayer
Father, thank you for change. I need a good shaking and I pray that You will help me to trust You and make the changes. You know best and I can see this is going to be a new and great adventure. Thank you for bringing the changes and I know You are with me in the midst of them. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Where does my help come from?
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.”
