Service With A Smile

Every Wednesday my mother and I meet for lunch at a small diner. We have been doing this for a little over a year now and it gives us time to talk with each other and catch up. The staff at the diner are wonderful ladies that work very hard.

One in particular is Marquetta. She always has such a beautiful smile and say, “Hi ladies, welcome back.” I noticed that one of her fingers was injured and splinted and asked if she was alright. She shared that she had broken it and there were a few pins in the bone to hold it in place.

I can’t imagine how much that would hurt using that finger while waiting on tables, stacking plates, writing down orders and carrying large trays of food. But she smiled the whole time and each and every customer received the same service with a smile.

She was a great reminder that no matter what we are going through we can still be kind to others.
