Roscoe
Two weeks ago we picked up our new puppy Roscoe. He is a tri-colored beagle and full of energy. His fur is so soft and he loves to cuddle.
We thought we were prepared for this new adventure having purchased everything we thought he would need and then some. We’ve been use to an older trained dog that is quite sedentary, so the frequent potty runs and chewing on everything has inspired us to get moving.
I’m growing quite fond of my little fur buddy and I’ve begun to realize that he is a people magnet. On one of our many walks over the weekend, several people, especially small children, would flock to him and want to pet him.
I soon realized that his popularity was providing several opportunities to meet people. During the weekend I had several conversations with families camping for the weekend and others who were gathering for reunions.
One family in particular was from California and had planned to travel to the Dakotas until the wife ended up in the emergency room needing surgery. The family was staying at the campground until she was able to travel.
The husband, Will, shared their family’s story with me of financial loss and rebuilding as we watched his young son Christopher run through the sprinkler.
On another walk we met four kids who now lived at the campground for the summer and were excited that they would be able to play with Roscoe on the weekends.
What a little gift from God! He has provided a way for us to get out of our comfort zone and meet people. To listen to their stories and to speak encouragement into their lives.
How creative of God to send us a Divine Encounter magnet disguised as a furry bundle of energy named Roscoe. Thank you Lord!
