Rich Communion
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. Revelation 3:20
We’ve all experienced hearing a knock at the door or a familiar voice asking if anyone is home. With today’s technology, we can even see the person from the door camera whether we are home or miles away.
Imagine seeing Jesus on your front porch, knocking and waiting for your reply. Do you recognize Him or His voice? Or is He a stranger to you?
The promise in this verse is that if we invite Him in, He will dine with us. I love the mental picture that the passage gives. Jesus, walking into my home (my heart) and dining (having communion) with me.
My heart’s desire is that I would be so familiar with His voice that I would long to hear it. That I would be watching for His arrival and fling open the door long before He set foot on the porch. That every moment we spend together would be rich in love, understanding, fellowship and relationship.
Jesus knocks at the door of our hearts because He wants to save us and have fellowship with us. He patiently and persistently waits to get through to us – not breaking and entering, but knocking. He allows us to decide whether we will open our lives to Him and welcome Him in, or not.
The Savior of The World, The King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords is knocking. Hear His voice and invite Him in. Your life will be forever changed.
