Restore My Soul – Where Does My Help Come From?
After a few weeks of working from home I was hit with a new reality. There would not be steady paychecks for awhile. The first time that the direct deposit was not present really caught my attention and I began to think about ways to change that.
While I am working just as hard as before, the current work is all about rebooking and changing already existing reservations. There is no new money in that. It’s all about customer service and taking care of my clients.
So I’ve been tempted to take matters into my own hands. There are sales that will come in, however they are to go to the original agency through the rest of this year. That was the arrangement that was made. As I continue to service those reservations I was tempted to change them to the new company, easily justifying it because I was still doing all the work. But then I received God’s message.
God’s message to me: Where does my help come from?
When I started this new business I knew without a doubt that God was leading me and preparing the way. He was causing everything to fall into place. He is the CEO and He wants this business built on integrity.
He provided the logo which is an anchor. When I looked up the definition of an anchor it was; security, stability and being grounded. A symbol demonstrating that a person is in tune with themselves and hold on to the values they believe in.
He knew that the funds would be minimal this year and yet He pushed me to move forward wanting me to trust in His provision. To see Him as my security and stability. To be grounded in HIM.
I was reminded about the story of Abraham and the promise that God had made to him about a son. In the waiting Abraham took matters into his own hands which created conflict that continues to this day. I don’t want that.
So where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121:2, 5-8
He is training me to not only seek His face and follow His lead, but to enjoy the adventure of abandoning myself to Him. I want God’s best for me. He will do much better than I could every possibly do on my own.
My Prayer
Father, thank you for leading me and establishing me in You. I want what You have for me. Help me to resist the temptation to take matters into my own hands. Turn those moments into faith as I trust Your will and timing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
