Restore My Soul – We Are On This Journey Together

While quietly relaxing in the hot tub after a long day my husband informed me that there would be a strong possibility that his work situation would drastically change within the next month. By drastically I mean that he would not be employed and would be starting over just like me.

I immediately began to wonder what that would look like with both of us starting over with new businesses. How would that play out in the months ahead? Just before the panic button was pushed I received my message from God.

God’s message to me: Remember…..We are on this journey together.

His message was followed up by words I read in the Jesus Calling devotional.

“Rest in Me My child, give your mind a break from planning and trying to anticipate what will happen. Remember that you are on a journey with Me. When you try to peer into the future and plan for every possibility, you ignore your constant companion, who sustains you moment by moment. As you gaze into the distance, you don’t even feel the strong grip of My hand holding yours. Remembrance of Me is a daily discipline.”

The thought that I was ignoring my constant companion made me sad. I hadn’t looked at it that way before and I certainly didn’t like the awareness that I was oblivious to God’s loving presence in my life.

That message not only addressed my need to remember God’s promises, but it also reminded me how personal our God is. The strong grip of His hand holding our as we walk through life’s challenges together. He even said to rest in Him. He’s got this!

I know that we are not the only people who have experienced drastic change this year. But I’m learning that when I look at my change while remembering that God is with me, it makes it doable. I have hope.

My heart goes out to those who don’t know the Lord and who are trying to navigate all the change in their own power and efforts. That’s where I believe God is bringing it all together. As we trust in Him through our own trials, we reflect the love and hope that our Savior gives to those who don’t know Him. And hopefully they will choose to know more about the One who is on this journey with us.

My Prayer

Father, thank you for the quick reminders that You are always there. Forgive my for ignoring Your presence and promises. Help me to walk by faith and with confidence because I know that You are walking with me. Hand in hand on this journey. Thank you Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
