Live Boldly

Restore My Soul – Reflect My Glory

God’s message to me: Reflect My glory as you are transformed to My likeness.

The best way I can describe what that means is from a quote in Acts 4:13 which reads, “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”

That verse strips away all the excuses and boldly summarizes the heart of the matter. It was because these men had spent time with Jesus that their witness was powerful and effective in pointing others to Christ.

Often we look at our shortcomings or our lack of something as the reasons that we can’t be bold for Christ. But this verse mentions that Peter and John were unschooled ordinary people just like us.

The power in their testimony and the confidence in their speech came from the time they spent with Jesus. Walking with Him. Listening to Him. Obeying Him. Trusting His leading and being transformed into His image.

People noticed something different about them. They were reflecting Christ. They were living out what they had come to believe about who Jesus was; their Lord and Savior.

Yes, they personally heard the Word of God from the Son of God, but we also have His word available to us everyday and at every moment. They physically walked with Him on earth, but we also can walk through this life knowing He is always with us.

Every time we spend time with Him in prayer, reading His word or walking out life with Him, we are being transformed into His likeness. The more time we spend with Him, the more we become like Him, taking on His characteristics.

Our lives should be “reflections” of the life of Jesus Christ! The Holy Spirit within us will give us all the capability and competence we need to reflect the character of Jesus Christ.

Every morning we look in the mirror and see a reflection. That reflection says a lot about us. Are we tired? Do we need a haircut? Are you looking good and feeling confident for the day ahead? Does that reflection show that you have spent time with Jesus?

The world is a much larger mirror and it’s constantly looking to see if we are living what we believe. Are we boldly facing the future because we are trusting in the One who holds it? Are we standing up for the things of God? Are we offering the same grace that was freely given to us? Are we loving people the way that God loves us? Unconditionally.

What does your life reflect about you?

My Prayer

Father, thank you for the reminder that the more time I spend with You, the more I will be transformed into Your image. Lord, when people see me, I want them to see YOU. I want to live my life with boldness in my faith, love in heart and grace in my soul. I pray that there is no doubt in their minds that I have spent time with You. Change me Lord. Help me to reflect my Savior. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Where does my help come from?

2 Corinthians 3:18

We, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory (Christ’s
characteristics) are being transformed into His likeness with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
