Restore My Soul – Look Up
Yesterday I was in a crowded grocery store. It seemed like all the aisles had been re-arranged and items were no longer where they used to be. Often I found myself looking up at the aisle signs for direction.
As I finished my shopping and headed towards the cashiers I noticed many other people – looking up! It reminded me of Psalm 121 which reads, “Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord maker of heaven and earth.”
God’s message to me today: Look Up!
In these troubling times with so many changes and different ways of doing things where do we go for direction? Where do we go for the truth?
We look up! Our help comes from the Lord who if fully aware and fully in control.
I was talking with my mother while at lunch and she was telling me about all the political analysts that she listens to on a daily basis. She asked which ones I listen to and was surprised when I said none.
I told her about a podcast that I did watch featuring Pastor Greg Laurie who spoke about the current world issues and the Coronavirus. It was so nice to share with her the words of Christ when He told His disciples of the things that would happen and not to fear because He has overcome the world.
It was so nice to experience the peace that came with sharing His words with my mother. In that moment I was looking up and my help was coming from the Lord.
My Prayer
Father, thank you for always being the right direction. Thank you for telling us where our help comes from. Your direction always gives peace and I thank you for the opportunity to share that with my mother. In Jesus’ name, amen.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
