Restore My Soul – Choose Joy

Tracy started playing a game with Roscoe where he will hold a golf ball in one hand and move it around behind his back then hold out his hands for Roscoe to choose which hand is hiding the ball.

Roscoe will look at each hand and then place his paw on the hand he thinks has the ball. Whether he finds the ball or not his tail waves in excitement to be spending time with Tracy. He chooses joy whether he finds the ball or not.

God’s message to me today: Choose Joy in every situation

Throughout the day we have many choices to make and each one carries a response with that choice. Sometimes good. Sometimes not so good. Among the many choices that we have is how we will respond to each situation.

Will we allow a slow traffic to dictate our attitude? Will we allow the news to cause fear? Or will we do as the bible says and be joyful always, pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Like Roscoe we can choose joy because we are in the Master’s presence. Things may not always turn out the way we would like them to, but regardless we are still in the presence of the Lord and there’s no better place than that as a wise little boy (My precious Brock) once told me.

My Prayer

Father thank you for the sweet lesson in choosing joy and for the reminder that there is nothing better than being with You. Please help me to choose joy in every situation and to spread that joy to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
