Remember When
I will remember the things the Lord has done. Yes, I will remember the powerful works of long ago. I will think of all Your work, and keep in mind all the great things You have done. – Psalm 77 :11-12
I have been finalizing plans for an upcoming family reunion this week and my hope is that everyone will have an amazing time together, enjoy the adventures and make memories. The whole process got me thinking about how God does the very same thing. He has a heavenly reunion planned for all believers and is making plans for events along the way that will bring us closer together and create memories.
It’s fun to talk about past reunions because you will always hear, “Remember when………….” followed by the story of a funny, embarrassing or even epic adventure. We have these stories to share because we attended the event, participated in the activities and made memories.
The same is true of our life here on earth. God invites us to participate in all types of things and we get the choice of whether to join in and make memories. Sometimes we mess up and it can be funny or even embarrassing. Other times we rise to the occasion and do more than we ever imagined we could. But the best part is when we get together and share, “Remember when God………..” stories, whether it’s around a campfire, picnic table or pew in church.
Yes, God can do anything and everything all by Himself. But He invites us to join in on life so that we can build a relationship with Him and others. He wants us to participate, try new things, have adventures and someday, we’ll be with Him in heaven sharing the most incredible stories of our memories with Him here on earth.
