Recognizing God’s Hand

Over the last several weeks as we’ve been studying the faith of Jochebed, I’ve been learning to watch and see what God is doing. Often when we pray we have our own idea on how we see it being answered. But in addition to our petitions, we need to ask God to help us recognize His hand in our situations and circumstances so that we can recognize His answer to our prayers no matter how different they are from our expectations.

I was told years ago that after I prayed I needed to watch and see what happened next. It created an expectation in my heart to see what God would do. When you deliberately stop and look at the events that take place after you have prayed, you will be able to see the unique and often mind blowing ways that God is working in and through your situation.

We need to replace the furnace in our home and have prayed for direction. My sister referred the company that installed her furnace and I called them. They were unable to help us because they are not licensed to work in the town where we live, but they referred us to another company. The other company responded quickly and when the technician came to our home my husband recognized him from a job site they both worked on over ten years ago. The man had moved away for a time and unknown to my husband, was now back in the area working again.

Not only did he suggest better options for the work that needs to be done, but he also gave my husband peace of mind and confidence in the work that will take place. My husband commented on how God worked everything out better than expected.

No matter how big or small our prayers are to God, He always knows the best way and time to answer them. In the waiting we get to see the beautiful orchestration as series of events work together for the outcome that God knows will be best for us.

Be Intentional about seeing, expecting and recognizing the hand of God in answer to your prayers.

Praises & Prayers

Father, I just want to praise You and thank You for the way that You work in our lives. It’s such an awe inspiring thing to look at Your hand at work and to see how You have orchestrated each and every detail for our good. I pray that our eyes will be opened to recognize not only Your answers, but also the series of events that lead to the answers. Thank you Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Messages from His Word

Psalm 37:23-24

The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.
Though they stumble, they will never fall,
for the Lord holds them by the hand.
