Promoted
Last week I attended a Celebration of Life for a member of my church family. Over the years I have attended several funerals, memorial services and Celebrations of Life, but none were quite like this one.
He had been diagnosed with stage 4 Pancriatic cancer and been give 5-6 weeks to live. That was in January. Eight months later he returned home to the Lord.
He had been an officer in the Salvation Army for many years. A fellow officer shared some memories and then explained that there were different ranks like Major and Admiral within the organinzation and several promotions were given during this man’s life. But the most important promotion was the one that he had just received, his promotion to Glory.
What a beautiful thing! What a heartwarming truth!
Of all the titles and promotions that we seek on earth, nothing compares to being promoted to Glory.
Philippians 1:21 – For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
