Pick A Card
Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. – Nehemiah 8:10
I was waundering around a store in the mall the other day trying to find something that would boost my spirit and help motivate me. To my great surprise I found it or rather it found me.
While looking through a display of summer clothes I heard my name being called. When I looked up it was my dear friend Molly. She looked like an angel as she walked towards me with wide open arms and her face shining with excitement. Her hug was one of those that you don’t want to end and I could feel her love for me throughout my whole being.
I hadn’t seen her in awhile and it was wonderful to catch up and share with one another. My heart and mind started to feel the same excitement she was expressing as she told me about how good God is. Her passion was contagious!
She is now working at that store and I was able to see her in action with her customers. Her joy spilled over to each and every one of them and I saw people walk away with smiles on their faces and a spring in their step.
Before leaving the store Molly told me she had something for me and she reached behind the counter for a small box. Then she said, “Pick a card.” The box was full of inspirational quotes with bible verses and she has made it a habit to give them out as freely and as often as she can.
That meeting was excactly what I needed. A reminder that my joy will not come from things, but rather from sharing about Jesus, what He’s done, who He is and letting His Spirit overflow from me to others – just like Molly did.
My card read, “The Lord is My Shepherd; I shall not want.” God is so good!!
