Penalty – Cancelled Debt – Paid
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23
Have you ever been pulled over for speeding and then let off with a warning? What a relief not to have to pay a fine for something you knew you were guilty of. The bible tells us that we all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3: 23) It goes on to tell us that the penalty for sin is death, eternal separation from God, but what does that mean? What would eternal separation look like?
Imagine being eternally separated from everything that describes God because that is who God is. God is – love, mercy, grace, light, goodness, patience, kindness, gentleness, joy, peace and faithfulness. What a terrible existance that would be and to experience it for eternity is unthinkable.
Thankfully we have a Savior who did more than any warning ever could, He personally paid the penalty for our sins. He made it possible for us to never experience the horrors of eternal separation from God. His sacrifical love is a free gift to everyone who accepts the offer.
We thankfully accept the warning for a traffic infraction, how much more should we eagarly and graciously accept this eternal gift of grace? Have you accepted this precious gift? Would you like to?
God’s heart is that none should perish but have eternal life in Him. It’s your choice. To accept this gift simply pray the following prayer with a sincere heart.
Dear Lord Jesus:
I know that I am a sinner and I believe that you died to pay the penalty for my sins. Thank you for taking my punishment. Please come into my heart and help me to live for you. Amen.
As a believer in Christ you now have the privilege of living in a personal relationship with Him. His word, the Bible, is truth. It will help guide you as you walk with Him in this adventure called life and you are never alone because His Holy Spirit dwells within believers as their constant companion.
Because of Christ our sin debt has been paid and the penalty cancelled and if that weren’t enough, we also have a glorious eternity to look forward to.
