Nuggets of Truth – The Merciful
The Sermon on the Mount is the largest recorded sermon given by Jesus to His followers. He wanted to prepare them, and us, to live a radically different life than what we see in the world. As true disciples we will experience every beatitude at some point in our lives, which means that we will also be blessed as promised. Nuggets of Truth are taken from the Sermon on the Mount and presented from the Message translation of the Bible. My hope is that you will find encouragement and connection with each passage.
You’re blessed when you care. At the moment of being ‘care-full,’ you find yourselves cared for. Matthew 5:7
We’ve all heard the saying, “It is more blessed to give than receive.” I experienced this in a beautiful way the other day. It was Valentine’s Day and my schedule was full. I didn’t see where I could fit in some time to accomplish a few errands that needed to be done. Then I received a call from a friend in need.
Her request would require me to leave the house within the next 30 minutes which meant that the pajamas I was still wearing would have to quickly be changed to warm winter clothes and snow gear due to the heavy snow that was falling. I didn’t see how I could accomplish all the day’s tasks with this interruption, but I knew it was what God would want me to do.
As I drove through unplowed roads I was grateful for the vehicle that God has blessed me with. As I finished the request of my friend I saw God’s abundant provision not only for her but also for myself. And during that request, I was able to run the errands that I didn’t think I had time for. But the greatest blessing of this whole experience was God working on my heart. He blessed me more than I could bless anyone else. He reminded me that He if He calls me to it, He will bring me through it. He made a way when I didn’t see one. I felt like the one who was cared for that day. Thank you, Lord!
