Nuggets of Truth – The Meek
The Sermon on the Mount is the largest recorded sermon given by Jesus to His followers. He wanted to prepare them, and us, to live a radically different life than what we see in the world. As true disciples we will experience every beatitude at some point in our lives, which means that we will also be blessed as promised. Nuggets of Truth are taken from the Sermon on the Mount and presented from the Message translation of the Bible. My hope is that you will find encouragement and connection with each passage.
You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought. – Matthew 5:5
In this world of striving for more, always reaching further, and trying to obtain the next best thing, it’s understandable why contentment is so hard to find. We are constantly sold a bill of goods that tells us we need more, we need to look different, and we need to fake it till we make it. What a load of garbage.
Today’s verse tells us that we are blessed when we are content with just who we are – no more, no less. Think about that for just a moment and say to yourself, “I am beautifully and wonderfully made by the Creator of the Universe. I am His masterpiece. He makes no mistakes. In Him, I am more than enough.”
With that mindset, we are better able to see that we already have the most valuable possession in the world, a relationship with Jesus. It’s priceless. It’s beautiful. It’s fulfilling. It’s better than anything this world can offer. It’s true and it’s eternal.
Be blessed today as you experience true contentment found only in the One who is the most precious and priceless of all.
