Nuggets of Truth – Poor In Spirit
The Sermon on the Mount is the largest recorded sermon given by Jesus to His followers. He wanted to prepare them, and us, to live a radically different life than what we see in the world. As true disciples we will experience every beatitude at some point in our lives, which means that we will also be blessed as promised. Nuggets of Truth are taken from the Sermon on the Mount and presented from the Message translation of the Bible. My hope is that you will find encouragement and connection with each passage.
You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule. Matthew 5:3
Being blessed by God means experiencing hope and joy, independent of the outward circumstances. This means that as believers we live differently, we live in a way that seems opposite of the world. Today’s passage caught my attention in saying that you are blessed when you are at the end of your rope. Do you feel blessed when you’ve reached the end of your patience, hope and grace? Probably not, but that is the exact place where you will find more of God and less of yourself if you choose to believe God’s promises.
The end of our rope is where we recognize our need for God. It’s in that place where we are hanging on by a thread that we can humbly submit to His authority and wisdom and in that submission, we will be blessed to receive His abundant provision in every area needed.
